Hamptons Retreat

This colorful yet classic beach house includes all the bells and whistles - from a serene outdoor shower to large front porch - it is the perfect place for a family to unwind.

We got the call about this home in January asking if the project could be completed by Memorial Day weekend - making it, needless to say, one of our quickest timelines ever. Thankfully, we had worked with these clients three times previously, so they were familiar with our process and style, making the quick turnaround time possible.

Permanent New York City residents, the couple bought this home as a vacation house and it was also their first property in the Hamptons. They brought our team on to create a completely different look than their residence in the city. Knowing they wanted something more modern than what they lived with every day, we landed on a decidedly more ‘fun’ design scheme, very light and with pops of color. The end result is truly a total departure from anything else we’ve worked on together.

Even though our timeline was quick, most everything you see in the home is either custom or semi-custom. We were able to pull this off for two reasons: first, because we’d worked together in the past, communication with the clients was seamless and we were on the same page from the start. Second, we partnered with vendors that we knew could deliver against an expedited timeline. We were transparent with our needs from the beginning.

One of my favorite things about this house is the front porch. I’ve been pining away for one just like it for almost my entire life. The space is beyond welcoming and it was designed with the intent to really be used. I imagine relaxing there during a summer happy-hour with a cocktail in hand.

Two other details that I love about this house: the double height windows in the living room overlooking the pool – the scene just screams “summer” and evokes the perfect vibe, and the outdoor shower. I always encourage my clients to invest in an outdoor shower if the space allows for it. There is truly nothing better during the warmer seasons.
